Nekton First Descent: Comoros

Nekton First Descent: Comoros is a collaboratively developed scientific and communications initiative that operates within the R-POC programme (led by
WildTrust and CORDIO). Nekton First Descent: Comoros integrates local and international expertise to conduct comprehensive marine biodiversity
assessments in the waters surrounding the Comoros Islands to support the commitment of the Comoros to protect 30% of their Ocean by 2030 and to increase knowledge of their iconic marine life and ecosystems. The mission also aims to elevate national, regional and global awareness of the Comoro’s unique ocean life, and the opportunity it presents for investment in ocean protection and sustainable blue economy initiatives.
