The Voice of the Comoros campaign brings together films, stories, and scientific findings from the First Descent: Comoros expedition to highlight the nation’s extraordinary marine biodiversity and the people working to protect it. Through a blend of broadcast-quality documentaries and short-form digital storytelling, release from November 2025 through early 2026, the campaign amplifies Comorian leadership in ocean science, showcases community perspectives, and supports the country’s commitment to protect 30% of its ocean by 2030.

The Voice of the Comoros campaign delivers a comprehensive suite of communications assets designed to amplify Comorian leadership, extend the reach of the First Descent expedition, and support national and international engagement around 30×30. Outputs include:

  • 10+ documentary films released across Associated Press, YouTube and partner platforms, covering mission discoveries, community perspectives, climate impacts, restoration initiatives, cultural heritage, and national ocean leadership.

  • A rolling series of 1-minute “Voice of Comoros” shorts, drawn from more than 40 interviews with fishers, scientists, community leaders, students, and elders.

  • Broadcast video packages produced for international news distribution, ensuring global visibility of Comoros’ science and conservation priorities.

  • High-resolution photography and media kits, supporting national and international newsrooms and strengthening national marine protection messaging.

  • Social media campaigns across Ocean Census, Nekton, and partner channels, extending reach, supporting long term engagement, elevating Comoros-led stories.

  • Education and community focus, showcasing reef restoration, mangrove protection, and the work of Comorian women in ocean science.
